Why do some computers need modules in pairs?
- Some computers are designed to use memory modules with a narrower data
path than the memory controller and CPU (ie: Pentium and PowerPC) require.
This necessitates the installation of multiple identicle modules that then
act or are addressed as one. By doing this, the computer can be built
quicker and cheaper, and common memory upgrades can be used that are more
available.
- Some computers suggest installing matched pairs of memory modules to
enhance performance by using Memory Interleaving.
