What's are SIMMs and DIMMs?
- SIMM stands for Single Inline Memory Module
- DIMM stands for Dual Inline Memory Module.
- Both modules have contacts along one long edge that plug into a socket on
the motherboard or processor card of the computer.
- A SIMM has contacts on each side of the module, but the contact on the
front is connected directly to the contact on the back, so electrically,
both are the same contact.
- A DIMM has contacts on each side, but the contacts on the front and back
are distinct pins.
