Can you put a parity module into a non-parity system?
- Yes, if the "non-parity" system completely ignores the parity
chips. In such a case, the extra chips sit idle, never being used.
- Most Apple systems have no capacity to detect memory errors and would
completely ignore the parity chips.
- Some PC systems can have parity checking manually disabled and would allow
parity and non-parity to co-exist.
- The worst case would be those systems that detect when any parity modules
are installed and enable parity checking automatically. If the system
enables parity checking on its own, any non-parity modules would then cause
parity errors.
